American Cancer Society (ACS) brings expertise in engaging community physicians and delivering important health information. ACS will be providing outreach to community-based providers and develop relationship with these providers to help them get their patients to stop smoking.
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC)
brings expertise in both smoking cessation and evaluation. MSKCC will provide content and technical support for the trainers. Also, they will lead evaluation of the reach and impact of the project on participating physicians and other health care providers. The project's effectiveness as a vehicle for identification of tobacco users at each patient encounter and as an opportunity to provide appropriate patient referral counseling/treatment services will also be assessed.
